The Worm Composting System is a design approach which is focusing on the system\u00a0behind the scenes and is taking account of a urban community,its\u00a0lifestyle and given infrastructure:

the food\u00a0wasted\u00a0per year is as much as 5x\u00a0the volume of zurich’s prime tower

lots of it could be recycled\"04_food<\/a><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

but due to unawareness people still\u00a0throw it away\"04_food<\/a><\/p>\n

…or don’t know how to recycle properly\"04_food<\/a><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

one of the main reason why\u00a0people don’t separate food waste from plastics and other stuff within households: „it starts smelling badly after some time!“\"04_food<\/a><\/p>\n

and they get dirty hands while emptying…\"04_food<\/a><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

this concept is trying to\u00a0make household composting systems more attractive to people\"04_food<\/a><\/p>\n

and is therefor focusing on an urban approach in collaboration with\u00a0local actors, the city government or social entrepreneurs to keep peoples hands clean and spare noses from bad smell, while collecting and recirculating\u00a0valuable natural\u00a0nutrients\"04_food<\/a><\/p>\n

A professional approach would also increase the quality of the processed waste and helps to make sure, that it is save to be used on a farmers land.\u00a0It would also guarantee, that no more plastic can enter the natural ecosystem,\u00a0due to a poor separation of food waste and other trash\"04_food<\/a><\/p>\n
