In the era of budget airlines and online check-ins, pilots have stopped being celebrities and became hired personnel like the rest of us. We’ve all been at an airport before, waiting for our flight, tired and irritated. Who has time to celebrate a pilot for doing their job? No one claps when a train conductor pulls into the station either.
For the evening of the 5th March, though, the aircrew will briefly return to their former glory in a series of interventions. These interventions last for minutes at a time and include a pilot and flight attendants strutting through the crowd under spotlights and camera shutters.
