‚Verweilen‘ is an artistic, performative vessel of being – a hosting practice born from my own bodily experience. Shared spaces often demand adaptation and constant presence: unspoken expectations and normalized forms of togetherness exert a physical toll, draining energy.
This project creates a slow hold space, rooted in a protected framework. In a circle of 3 to 7 invited guests, food is understood not as a social performance, but as a medium of perception.
Accompanied by an auditory vocal-vessel that welcomes those arriving and grants permission for silence and pauses, materiality moves into the center. Through its weight and tactility, the tableware offers the nervous system an anchor. The food, prepared from regional ingredients, is a form of «care» for both environment and body—selected to nourish without overwhelming the senses.
‚Verweilen‘ emerged from a personal necessity—the desire not to have to yield when the world becomes too loud. As a queer, non-binary person with chronic migraines and a neurodivergent nervous system sensitized by loss, I understand this project as an artistic practice of self-care. As an artist, I design the social space I myself need in order to stay.
