taking time with octavia

April 16th, 2015

lately i have been really focused on school. there is so much to do: photos to edit and print, and posters to work on, and now i need to start thinking about what to do for my mentored project in a few weeks…

but last night octavia asked me if i could pick her up from school early sometime. i feel a bit bad that she is in school so much, so i decided to take the afternoon off and pick her up at 2pm today.

we have been having a lovely, relaxing time… i am even managing to do some peripheral creative things that sometimes get pushed to the side. like blogging. or petting my cats. or playing with crappy kid paint:

octavia and i started painting rocks, but quickly moved to paper. first i made a princess (according to octavia) and then octavia inspired me to do a jellyfish and of course she had to help. true collaboration!

here she is working hard:

finding a balance between life, my normal responsibilities and school is proving to be difficult. this is probably the main difference between going to uni last time and now. i would love to spend ALLLL THE TIME working on my school and personal creative projects, but i have to remember that i do have a lovely family who would like to spend time with me…

off to being a good mother.

xx
