In our IDSS 2014\u00a0project we focus on\u00a0urban farming in\u00a0relation to\u00a0the megatrend\u00a0mobility. On the one hand people like to participate in urban farming, to connect with nature and “get their hands dirty”. On the other hand people like to travel, life is getting faster and flexible – from communication to transportation to new work models.<\/p>\n

#1 MOBILE URBAN FARMING
\nOur first approach was to create a gadget for urban farmers that they could take with them while traveling. This would support urban famers in their access to\u00a0fresh food even\u00a0on\u00a0vacation. Extracts from the research results can be found below:<\/p>\n

#2 GLOBAL URBAN FARMING NETWORK
\nAfter several discussions\u00a0with the faculties and also in class our research shifted from the mobile urban farming concept and a more speculative design approach\u00a0to a service that is much more feasible. We conducted personal interviews with people on the street in Shanghai and Wuxi as well as with fellow students from China, India and Spain. Besides the interviews we also started a netnography by searching through digital travel and urban farming platforms. The results and the most important links can be found below:<\/p>\n
