What is the use of theatrical interventions in order to describe and discover the public?<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In the research project \u201cRe\/Occupation\u201d we tried to examine how performative techniques can be used for producing and designing public in urban space. Led by the main question, how artistic strategies could be used for scientific research or the humanities, five disciplines \u2013 theatre studies, urbanism, sociology, scenography and philosophy \u2013 worked independently from each other using their own questions and methods. This led to completely new questions like: What can the arts do for the development of the urban society?\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Metropolis<\/strong> is a festival and a laboratory for the development of the creative city. With Metropolis, Copenhagen International Theatre exits the theatre and enters the city to create art, life and debate. The objective is to break the established notions of the art, and in particular the traditional image of the performing arts. Metropolis is a biennale, alternating with the festival in odd years and the laboratory in even years.<\/p>\n

METROPOLIS LABORATORY 2012
<\/strong>7 \u2013 9 June Copenhagen International Theatre is hosting the fourth edition of the Metropolis Laboratory, which will be working towards the next Metropolis Festival in August 2013. The Laboratory will take place at Overgaden – Institut for Samtidskunst at Christianshavn, Copenhagen. <\/strong><\/p>\n

The programme will be a 3-day seminar in English followed by a number of short workshops, where artists and architects collaborate on developing ideas and concepts for public spaces in Copenhagen. Metropolis Laboratory 2012 will focus on five main themes:<\/p>\n
