Der Inflatable Wind Tunnel macht seine ersten Schritte unter freiem Himmel und markiert den Saisonauftakt des Zürcher Art Container Projekts. In der Beschreibung heisst es unter anderem:

“A mobile wind tunnel can pop up anywhere. A flexible wind tunnel adapts to its environment and reacts to its surroundings, constantly rediscovering its own most appropriate form. An expandable wind tunnel. An indefatigable wind tunnel, endlessly circulating and recirculating, never giving up.”

The Inflatable Wind Tunnel

Ein guter Windtunnel saugt seine Luft in die Teststrecke. Da bleibt viel Druckluft übrig. Kaspar König erfand darum kurzerhand den Inflatable und entwickelte zusammen mit Florian Dombois ein neues Kunstobjekt. Hier der 2. Prototyp auf dem ZHdK-Forschungstag.

Der Windtunnel ist Punk.

In der Windkanalsimulation behält die Peplosphäre etwas von den wehenden Gewändern Botticellis.

Mein inneres Bild von dem Windtunnel rechnete mit dem Effekt des Staunens. Doch es zerfiel nicht durch die Gewöhnung an das Objekt, sondern durch die Entlarvung der Grenzen meines Vorstellungsvermögens.

We are all different. So why don’t we have different wind tunnels?

My idea of a wind tunnel is a bi-modern and abstract-realist wind tunnel, which means an instrument for a gentle jumping between ‘imagination’ – also as a thinking-through of (non-)knowledge – and ‘thinking’ (of knowledge) without falling in the gap of neither (re-)presentation nor transformation.

Jeder Aviatikbegeisterte träumt davon, einmal in einem Windkanal zu stehen. Für mich wurde dieser Traum in Zürich Realität.

Das ist eine Wundermaschine.

Der Windkanal ist eine physikalische Iteration. Die Winkelhalbierende der graphischen Iteration wird aber erst bei der Fertigstellung des Winkanals gezeichnet.
