Luis August Krawen is a German visual artist who works at the crossroads between theatre and digital film art. He grew up in Berlin, where he was a member of P14, the youth theatre of the Volksb\u00fchne. At the Institute for Applied Theatre Studies in Giessen, he discovered 3D animation as a tool and has been working as a visual artist in theatre and opera ever since.<\/p>\n

Luis has produced video works for plays at the Schauspielhaus Z\u00fcrich, the Hamburg State Opera, the M\u00fcnchner Kammerspiele, the Residenztheater, the Deutsches Schauspielhaus Hamburg, the Maxim Gorki Theatre and the Schauspiel Frankfurt. For the Bayreuth Festival, he created digital projections for two parts of Der Ring des Nibelungen<\/strong> (director: Valentin Schwartz) and for Tristan und Isolde<\/strong> (director: Roland Schwab).<\/p>\n

In 2020, Luis was invited to the M\u00fcnchner Kammerspiele as Artist in Residence. He developed the installation The Shire<\/a>, which was invited to several festivals, and the performance Nightcore<\/a>. His next project Planet Magnon<\/a>, a feature-length computer-generated film starring the M\u00fcnchner Kammerspiele ensemble, is planned for mid-2024.<\/p>\n
