<\/span>Born in Tangiers in 1980, Maryam <\/span>Touzani<\/span> studied journalism in London before returning to her native Morocco<\/span>. <\/span>Having begun her career as a film critic, Maryam <\/span>Touzani<\/span> soon desired to express her vision in <\/span>a different way<\/span> and stepped behind the camera to direct two noteworthy short films, <\/span><\/span>QUAND ILS DORMENT<\/span><\/span> and AYA VA \u00c0 LA PLAGE<\/span><\/span>. She then collaborated on Nabil <\/span>Ayouch\u2019s<\/span> <\/span>MUCH LOVED<\/span><\/span>. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

In 2019, she directed her first feature film, <\/span><\/span>ADAM<\/span><\/span>, selected for the Un Certain Regard at the Festival de Cannes<\/span>, many other <\/span>filmfestivals<\/span> and shortlisted for the Oscars. She then collaborated once again with Nabil <\/span>Ayouch<\/span>, with whom she co-wrote <\/span><\/span>RAZZIA<\/span><\/span>, a film in which she also starred, and <\/span><\/span>CASABLANCA BEATS<\/span><\/span>, selected in Competition for the Festival de Cannes in 2021. <\/span><\/span>

<\/span>She returned to <\/span>the <\/span>Cannes Festival<\/span> as a director with the highly acclaimed <\/span><\/span>THE BLUE CAFTAN<\/span><\/span>\u00a0(2022), selected for Un Certain Regard<\/span>, winning the FIPRESCI-<\/span>Prize<\/span> and shortlisted for the Oscars. She is currently working on her first novel and her next feature film.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span>
