Ella Rumpf was born in Paris in 1995 and grew up bilingually (German\/French) in Zurich. She studied acting in London (Giles Foreman Centre for Acting).<\/p>\n
In 2012 she made her acting debut in DRAUSSEN IST SOMMER by Friederike Jehn. For her role of Ali in the award-winning feature film CHRIEG [WAR] by Simon Jaquemet, she was nominated for the Swiss Film Award. This was followed by leading roles in other films such as TIGER GIRL by Jakob Lass, which premiered in Berlin in 2017 or RAW [GRAVE] by Julia Ducournau \u2013 a worldwide festival and critic\u2019s favourite that was launched in Cannes. Ella Rumpf was selected as R\u00e9velation (Discovery) for her role in GRAVE for the C\u00e9sar 2018. 2019 she played in SYMPATHY FOR THE DEVIL by Guillaume de Fontenay and received the EFP Shooting Stars Award 2020 at the Berlinale.<\/p>\n
For international Television, Ella worked on series such as SUCCESSION and TOKYO VICE (directed by Michael Mann, Hikari a.o.). Ella Rumpf also appeared in main roles in the Netflix series FREUD and the feature film SOUL OF A BEAST by Lorenz Merz.<\/p>\n
This was followed in 2023 by the title role in the French-Swiss feature film production “Le th\u00e9or\u00eame de Marguerite”. Ella Rumpf plays a doctoral student in mathematics who stumbles shortly before graduating and reinvents herself professionally in a different role. The film premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in 2023, and in early 2024 she received a Prix Lumi\u00e8re and a C\u00e9sar for Best Female Actor for her performance. She is currently nominated for the 2024 Swiss Film Award.<\/p>\n
