She is also a Leverhulme Fellow and is currently researching the life and work of James Whale. Her research interests include early cinema, abject spaces, fantasy, and medical humanities. She has published around 95 publications, including two monographs, <em>Abject Spaces in American Cinema<\/em> (2013) and <em>Fantasy Film Post 9\/11<\/em> (2013), and is co-editor of <em>Spaces of the Cinematic Home<\/em> (2015), <em>Tim Burton&#8217;s Bodies<\/em> (2021) and <em>Action Heroines in the Twenty-First Century: Sisters in Arms<\/em> (2025).
