Fabienne Liptay <\/strong>is a professor of film studies at the University of Zurich.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Currently, she is directing the research project\u00a0<\/span>Exhibiting Film: Challenges of Format\u00a0<\/span><\/i>(2017\u20132026), which was awarded an excellence grant by the Swiss National Science Foundation.\u00a0<\/span>She is also a founding member of the Centre for Arts and Cultural Theory (UZH\/ZHdK) and a co-editor of the academic book series “Think Art” (Diaphanes).\u00a0<\/span>Together with Dorota\u00a0Sajewska,\u00a0she\u00a0founded\u00a0the Institute for Performance and Film Expanded,\u00a0<\/span>an experimental research laboratory that brings together researchers,\u00a0artists\u00a0and curators for non-disciplinary explorations of performance and film<\/span>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>She has published widely on the theory and aesthetics of the moving\u00a0image,\u00a0film exhibition and cinema expanded, being particularly interested in the relation between film, literature, visual\u00a0arts\u00a0and performance.<\/span>\u00a0Her publications include the monograph<\/span>\u00a0Telling Images:\u00a0Studien\u00a0zur\u00a0Bildlichkeit\u00a0des Films<\/span><\/i>\u00a0(<\/span>Diaphanes<\/span>, 2016), as well as the co-edited books\u00a0<\/span>Taking Measures: Usages of Formats in Film and Video Art\u00a0<\/span><\/i>(Scheidegger & Spiess, 2023, in collaboration with the Migros Museum f\u00fcr\u00a0Gegenwartskunst),\u00a0and\u00a0<\/span>Eco-operations<\/span><\/i>\u00a0(<\/span>Diaphanes<\/span>, 2024,\u00a0in collaboration with the documenta\u00a0Institut).\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
