The lecture approaches production design\u00a0<\/span>of films\u00a0<\/span>from a conceptual perspective.\u00a0<\/span>How can the \u201cordinary\u201d and the \u201c<\/span>mundane<\/span>\u201d be outlined and distinguished from one another\u00a0<\/span>with regard to<\/span>\u00a0film history?<\/span>\u00a0How do they relate, on the one hand, to what Carlo Ginzburg called the \u201cevidentia<\/span>ry<\/span>\u00a0paradigm\u201d<\/span>,\u00a0<\/span>the reading of traces according to which everything is meaningful, even the smallest detail<\/span>,\u00a0<\/span>and, on the other hand, to what Roland Barthes described as the \u201creality effect,\u201d according to which nothing is meaningful beyond its mere relation to reality? Using works by Omer Fast as examples, the lecture also explores the question of how things and bodies that appear ordinary or\u00a0<\/span>mundane<\/span>\u00a0relate to one another, and under what conditions they lead a life of their own when we are not\u00a0<\/span>watching<\/span>.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
