In my lecture, I look at the cinematic staging and creation of private and domestic spaces in feminist films from Switzerland (1970\u201395). I am interested in how the filmmakers not only criticised the binary spatial order (\u2018the private is political\u2019) but also produced a more complex understanding of gendered spaces. I therefore pay particular attention to how kitchens or living rooms also become visible as potential spaces for feminist emancipation and\u00a0<\/span>collectivity<\/span>. In my presentation I consider a range of fictional and semi-fictional films such as\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Il\u00a0<\/span>valore<\/span>\u00a0della donna \u00e8 il\u00a0<\/span>suo<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>silenzio<\/span><\/span><\/em>\u00a0(Gertrud Pinkus, 1980) or\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Noch\u00a0<\/span>f\u00fchren<\/span>\u00a0die Wege an der Angst\u00a0<\/span>vorbei<\/span><\/em>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>(Margrit\u00a0<\/span>B\u00fcrer<\/span>\/Kristin\u00a0<\/span>Wirthensohn<\/span>, 1988).
