SHEN Jie (Greg) is the associate professor of Industrial Design Department at School of Design, Jiangnan University.
He has been a freelance product designer and lecturer after obtained the bachelor’s degree in 1993 and the master’s degree in 2000 at Wuxi Institute of Light Industry.
He was the chairman of Industrial Design Department since 2001. In 2010 he became the director of Living Innovation Studio at School of Design, Jiangnan University. He is the executive director of the of CCFIDTC (Chiang Chen Foundation Industrial Design Training Center) at Jiangnan University since 2012. From 2013, he is responsible for the international cooperative project “Upcycling Design” on behalf of Jiangnan University. He took the charge of a series of educational projects and workshops in cooperation with colleges and big companies since 2004.
His research area is involved in design culture and design strategy:
1) Design intervention and value reconstruction in innovation of business pattern.
2) Design interaction of traditional material/technic and modern lifestyle; The inheritance and innovation of traditional lifestyle in contemporary design; Cross-cultural design cooperation in the context of globalization.
3) Security design and New handicraft industry with a basis of social innovation and service design.
