leihs 2.9.14 to 3.0.0-alpha.11 upgrade guide now available

While we do not recommend that you upgrade to alpha-quality software, if you are curious and want to start using leihs 3.0, you can. We’re trying to make it a bit easier for you with this upgrade guide:

https://github.com/zhdk/leihs/wiki/Upgrading-2.9.14-to-3.0.0

The guide should cover everything you need to change and move in order to use leihs 3.0. Again, we’re not actively recommending it; one part is still missing from leihs 3.0: Editing templates in the backend. If you’re not using templates, however, you may be able to risk the upgrade now. We can say that leihs 3.0 has been in productive use at this and other universities for more than 3 months now without major problems, so the risk isn’t that big.

As always, keep a backup of all files and all your databases before trying anything like this, and be prepared for some rough edges still.

We’re also looking for feedback on the upgrade guide. If you spot a mistake, let us know.

Once all this is polished, parts of the upgrade guide will turn into the official installation guide for leihs 3.0.0 and then we can finally uncork the champagne.
