Jason Kisvarday is an American production designer and world builder whose work focuses on creating grounded, believable spaces that can quietly support moments of the unreal. He is best known for his collaboration on Everything Everywhere All at Once, where production design played a central role in shaping the film’s shifting realities and emotional logic.
Kisvarday approaches production design as a collaborative form of authorship. Working closely with directors, he helps build worlds that feel lived-in and familiar, even as they bend toward magical realism. His interest lies less in spectacle and more in how ordinary places (homes, offices, back rooms, forgotten corners) can become sites of transformation when pushed just slightly out of balance.
Across his work, Kisvarday is drawn to stories that place everyday characters inside heightened or fantastic situations without losing their emotional grounding. He believes that the most effective world-building often goes unnoticed, allowing the audience to feel the rules of a story rather than be told what they are.
In addition to his design work, Kisvarday has mentored emerging designers and participated in conversations around collaborative filmmaking and world-building. He continues to develop original projects that explore how physical environments can carry story, tone, and meaning.
