going for a walk where the birds sing

Whenever I go for a walk, birds catch my attention. Usually, it’s only acoustic traces that reveal their presence. Whether it’s the flapping of their wings, the velar cooing of the ever so present pigeon or the nightingale’s bright song of spring.
Listening to those sounds, the migratory birds might come to mind, their seasonal travels, their relation to time and space. The birds’ ethereal songs, layered, stretched and inverted, in combination with earthly ambient sounds – penetrating one’s headphones – create a space, where locality and time are multiplied.

Listen to the entire audio track while taking a walk along the Schanzengraben, starting at the Bahnhof Selnau station. Go in whichever direction you wish, but keep close to the water. During walking, feel free to stop for a bit, maybe sit down or change direction.
