Nanna Lüth hat diese neue Ausgabe von Art Education Research zusammengestellt, die sich, unter dem Eindruck der jüngsten politischen Entwicklungen in Europa – dem Erstarken rechter Parteien und der Zunahme von «Ideologien der Ungleichwertigkeit» (Heinrich Böll Stiftung 2016) – den Herausforderungen von rassismuskritisch positionierter Arbeit in Kunst und Vermittlung widmet. Aïcha Diallo und Danja Erni, die seit Sommer 2016 gemeinsam die KontextSchule, eine Fortbildung für Berliner Lehrer*innen und Künstler*innen leiten, reflektieren über den Prozess, eine diskriminierungskritische Ausrichtung in der KontextSchule umzusetzen. Ausgehend von den eigenen «Bildern im Kopf» skizzieren sie Utopien und Erfolge, aber auch die Grenzen, Verletzbarkeiten und das «Stolpern im Lernprozess». Auch Nana Adusei-Poku widmet sich in «Alle müssen alles lernen, oder emotionale Arbeit» Rassismuskritik in der Institutionsentwicklung, basierend auf dem Projekt «WdKA makes a difference » in Rotterdam. Pascal Schwaighofers Artikel über einen nicht realisierten Auftrag für ein künstlerisches Projekt in einem Empfangs- und Verfahrenszentrum für Asylsuchende im Tessin gibt seltene Einblicke in Diskussionen vor dem Zustandekommen eines solchen Auftrags für öffentliche Kunst und verweist auf das Zusammenspiel von Repräsentation und Entrechtung. Ayşe Güleç stellt Maßnahmen gegen das Leise-Stellen von migrantisch situiertem Wissen über den NSU-Komplex im Rahmen von Ausstellung und Vermittlung auf der documenta 14 dar.

On Fragility and Resistance

Recent political developments in Europe—the growing strength of right-wing parties and the growth of “ideologies of inequality” (Heinrich Böll Foundation 2016)—motivated Nanna Lüth to edit this issue of Art Education Research that focuses on the challenges related to work in art and art education that takes a critical perspective on racism. Since summer 2016, Aïcha Diallo and Danja Erni have been directing the KontextSchule in Berlin, a place for the continuing education of teachers and artists. In this issue, they reflect on their experience of integrating a critique of discriminatory practices into the KontextSchule’s program. Aware of their own “mental images,” they chart not only utopias and triumphs but also the borders, points of vulnerability, and “stumbling blocks in the learning process.” Based on a project in Rotterdam, “WdKA makes a difference,” in her contribution, “Everyone has to learn everthing, or: emotional labor,” Nana Adusei-Poku also addresses issues related to developing a critical perspective on racism within the context of institutional development. Pascal Schwaighofer, in his article about a commission for an unrealized art project that was to have taken place in a reception and registration center for asylum seekers in the Swiss canton of Ticino, provides insights into the discussions that take place before commissions for such public art projects even come into being, and points to the connection between representation and the denial of rights. Ayşe Güleç considers ways to combat the silencing of migrant-situated knowledge about the terror committed by the “National Socialist Underground“ (NSU) and the institutionalized racism, upon which it is based, within the framework of an exhibition and presentation at documenta 14.
