Fluxus explored with a camera
The Film Flux Us Now portrays the Fluxus Movement as an extended network, and depicts the methods of collaboration and exchange within the Neo Avant-Garde of the 1960s. The Fluxus art movement can be seen as a follow-up of the methods of collaboration and cross-disciplinarity described in the myths surrounding Black Mountain College. The early happening-like events and music experiments based on scores by John Cage started at the Black Moutain College. After his commitment at Black Mountain College in 1948, Cage became professor at the New School of Social Research, NY in 1956 where he helped to shape the artistic practice of such artists as George Brecht, Al Hansen, Dick Higgins, Jackson MacLow, Toshi Ichiyanagi, Yoko Ono, Allan Kaprow, George Maciunas and La Monte Young, who later became important Fluxus artists.
