Bio

 

* 1930 in Neuchâtel CH; † 1985 in Gland CH

After studying Applied Arts the Ecole d’Art in Biel and at the Ėcole d’Art in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Renė Bauermeister worked in the studios of André Lhote et Atélier Fernand Léger in Paris before returning back to Switzerland in 1954. Next to his profession as a teacher in secondary schools in Neuchâtel and La Chaux-de-Fonds, Bauermeister started working as artist in the late 1960s producing sculpture, photographs, videos and films.
