Christine Lang works as a writer, film director and dramaturg in theory and practice, in the context of theater and film.

She publishes on film dramaturgy and aesthetics: in 2013 her books were published: Breaking Down BREAKING BAD. Ästhetik und Dramaturgie einer Fernsehserie (with Christoph Dreher) by Fink Verlag; Come and play with us. Dramaturgy and Aesthetics in Postmodern Cinema (edited with Kerstin Stutterheim) by Schüren Verlag. In 2022, she is scheduled to publish her dissertation: The Aesthetic Seeing, Implicit Dramaturgy in David Lynch’s MULHOLLAND DRIVE.

Since 2014 theatrical work as author and dramaturg with Volker Lösch; currently: AufRuhr (with Ulf Schmidt and Volker Lösch; Schauspiel Essen 2021). 2019: House Of Horror. Theater. Women. Power. Schauspielhaus Bonn 2018: Der Prinz und der Bettelknabe – und das Kapital, Schauspiel Essen, et al. In the theater productions she directs the film parts.

Her films have screened internationally at film festivals (various awards: First Steps Award nomination 2006, Prädikat Wertvoll 2006, among others). Her feature film KALTE PROBE, co-directed with Constanze Ruhm, premiered at the Berlinale 2013. Her short film AS IF WE WERE SOMEBODY ELSE premiered at the International Hof Film Festival in 2015. In 2021, the feature film script ERBEN, written with Dirk Lütter, was selected for production by WDR.

Christine Lang has taught at the Filmuniversität Babelsberg Konrad Wolf since 2009 and the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Mendelssohn Bartholdy in Leipzig since 2017.

Schauspielhaus Bonn 2018: Der Prinz und der Bettelknabe – und Das Kapital, Schauspiel Essen, u.a. In den Theaterproduktionen übernimmt sie die Regie der filmischen Anteile.

Ihre Filme liefen international auf Filmfestivals (diverse Auszeichnungen: Nominierung First Steps Award 2006, Prädikat Wertvoll 2006 u.a.). Auf der Berlinale 2013 feierte ihr gemeinsam mit Constanze Ruhm inszenierter Spielfilm KALTE PROBE Premiere. Ihr Kurzfilm AS IF WE WERE SOMEBODY ELSE hatte 2015 Premiere auf den Internationalen Hofer Filmtagen. 2021 wird das mit Dirk Lütter verfasste Spielfilmdrehbuch ERBEN vom WDR zur Produktion ausgewählt.

Christine Lang unterrichtet seit 2009 an der Filmuniversität Babelsberg Konrad Wolf und seit 2017 der Hochschule für Musik und Theater Mendelssohn Bartholdy in Leipzig.

Marja-Riitta Koivumäki (EN)

Marja-Riitta Koivumäki is a Senior Lecturer in Screenwriting at Aalto University, School of Art and Design, Department of Film, TV and Production Design, Finland. She has been working as a screenwriter, script editor and screenwriting tutor also in the UK and Denmark.

She gained her MA in theatre studies and Russian language in 1991 from the Helsinki University. She did further film studies at the Moscow Film School VGIK (The Gerasimov Institute of Cinematography) in Russia in 1991-1993. She gained her doctoral thesis in 2016 focusing on theory of drama and dramaturgy, and poetic approach in screenwriting.

She was a member of a screenwriting research team, ‘Aristotle in Change’, funded by the Academy of Finland in 2008-2012. She has been a member of the international Screenwriting Research Network since 2008.

Marja-Riitta Koivumäki

Marja-Riitta Koivumäki ist Dozentin für Drehbuchschreiben an der Aalto-Universität, School of Art and Design, Abteilung für Film, TV und Produktionsdesign, Finnland. Sie hat als Drehbuchautorin, Drehbuchredakteurin und Dozentin für Drehbuchschreiben auch im Vereinigten Königreich und in Dänemark gearbeitet.

Sie erwarb 1991 einen MA in Theaterwissenschaft und Russisch an der Universität Helsinki. Von 1991 bis 1993 absolvierte sie ein weiteres Filmstudium an der Moskauer Filmschule VGIK (The Gerasimov Institute of Cinematography) in Russland. 2016 promovierte sie über die Theorie des Dramas und der Dramaturgie sowie den poetischen Ansatz beim Drehbuchschreiben.

Sie war Mitglied eines Drehbuch-Forschungsteams, „Aristoteles im Wandel“, das von der Finnischen Akademie 2008-2012 finanziert wurde. Seit 2008 ist sie Mitglied des internationalen Screenwriting Research Network.
