What is the IAS?

The Immersive Arts Space (IAS) is a university-wide art/tech lab within the Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK). As a pioneering hub for research-creation, the Immersive Arts Space pursues and promotes an integrated program of transdisciplinary inquiry in and across research, teaching, service and production in the area of art, design, technology and society.

Drawing on multiple disciplines, ranging from computer science to performance studies and sociological inquiry, the IAS develops a critical approach to art and design through practical engagement with new technologies, as well as a critical approach to new technologies through art and design.

The Immersive Arts Space contributes to developing one of the core strategies of the Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK) – promoting critical innovation and creative diversity across study fields and departments, while positioning its unique program of transdisciplinary inquiry in the contemporary fields of art, science, and technology.
