Bio

*1948, Zürich

From 1968 to 1973 André Lehmann worked as a primary- and secondary school teacher, before deciding to study painting at the Art School in Basel (class Franz Fedier). It was here that Lehmann started taking film courses with Werner von Mutzenbecher in 1976. From 1976/77 he went on an exchange year at the Cooper Union in New York, where he studied with Hans Haacke, Robert Breer and Douglas Davies. He also visited the Städelschule in Frankfurt as guest student in Peter Kubelka’s class from 1981-82. André Lehmann worked as a lecturer at the Basel Art School from 1987-2013. He lives and works in Basel.
