Symposium - From Hype to Reality

The DSI Community Digital Humanities, a special interest group within the University of Zurich, organizes a symposium, that brings together researchers working at the intersection of artificial intelligence, digital humanities, art history, and cultural studies. The aim of this event is to discuss the various aspects of contemporary AI technologies, particularly in relation to the study of art and culture. 
Stella Speziali and Oliver Sahli will give an input about the project Conversations with Puppets.

panic//void - Performance

panic//void is an audiovisual performance by Studio ZYKLOS. Improvisation between humans and machines, audio and visuals, ZYKLOS stretches the brutality of dichotomies until the structures fall apart into something that can be hybrid, whole, unquestioned, and simply experienced.

Performances are on the 20th and 21st November, 19:30

Lecture by Rasa Smite

Rasa Smite will hold a guest lecture on Immersive Climate Imaginaries: Towards Multisensory Ecological Knowledge as part of this semesters lecture series Interfacing Ecologies by the Interaction Design study field.
The lecture is public and no registration is needed.

Lecture "Maschinen versprechen Zukünfte?

Maschinen versprechen Zukünfte is a lecture by Chris Salter (director IAS, computation art) and Nils Röller (philosophy) as part of the lecture series Gemeinsinn - Zur Zukunft der Kunsthochschule organized by Judith Siegmund (Department of Cultural Analysis).

Kikk Festival


Martin Fröhlich, senior researcher at the IAS, is part of this year`s Swiss Delegation to the Kikk Festival in Namur, Belgium. Martin is following an invitation of the Science and Academic Councellor for Wallonia-Brussels.

This year`s theme of the Kikk Festival is Boom Boom Tchak, celebrating rhythm in all its forms, from the natural pulse of life to the electrifying beats of electronic music.

REFRESH#6

REFRESH running from 02.-05. October 2025 deals with the intersection of Arts, Design & Technology. Under the theme «Futures of Uncertainties», the sixth edition of the festival – featuring keynotes, exhibitions, masterclasses, screenings and performances – will bring together designers, artists, and researchers from Switzerland and abroad to explore possible futures for design and the arts.

Exhibition Opening!

We are part of the exhibition "Museum of the Future - 17 Experiments". Out project is called Conversations with Puppets and invites visitors to interact and talk to three digitized stick puppets, created by Fred Schneckenburger.

Exhibition opening: 29th August 2025 until 1st February 2026
