A Case Study by Firouzeh Khosrovani and ENSieh Maleki
More than 80% of the film RADIOGRAPH OF A FAMILY is based on still photos and soundless archive footages of different countries and different times. Therefore, Iranian director Firouzeh Koshrovani and sound designer Ensieh Maleki needed to create the whole soundtrack in post-production, including the recording of staged dialogues.
They take us through their working process to create a sonic identity for the film. By means of a lot of experimentation they were able to give an analogue feeling to the story. This case study explores how the soundtrack supports the storytelling in creating a natural and subtle sense of intimacy.
