Abstract by Giulia Giapponesi
In making her film ‚Bella Ciao – Per la libertà‘ about the roots and rise of the most popular revolutionary song in the world, Giulia Giapponesi used archival material to uncover new information and perspectives that challenged previously held assumptions about the song. In her talk she shows how audio or video archives provided valuable information and insights that were not available in written sources.
Giapponesi will discuss the importance of research in her documentary, which led to discover evidence that Bella Ciao was already sung before the period many historians had claimed to be the origin.
